Phase 1: SHORT LISTING CANDIDATES 

• All participants must register online on www.zeebiz.com/smartinvestor 
• The participants will create an index of their own. This index will be benchmarked against a frontline index (Sensex in this case since BSE is a partner). At the end of 15 days, the returns on each index will be calculated.
• The creation of individual indices will be simple. Each contestant will create 30-stock index but only 15 of them can be from BSE A-Group while remaining 15 will have to be from BSE B-Group. This will be a mock portfolio and each contestant will have 10 shares of each selected stock in his/her portfolio. 
• We will calculate % return at the end of 2-week long trading window. Once the index is created, contestants will not be all allowed to make any changes to the portfolio.
• The top net gainers from across the country  will be selected to participate in the city rounds.

Phase 2: CITY ROUND: GROUND EVENT

• The top 4 contestants from each city in phase-1 will be invited to take part in the city round ground event. Each ground event would have 4 rounds –
• Portfolio Round: 
  • In this round, the qualifying contestants will have to explain and justify their choice of scrips in the first round.
  • The participants will be answering questions by the judges.
• Case Study Round:
  • Each participant will make a brief presentation on the personal finance case study (provided to them beforehand) which would be marked by jury members.
• Mutual Funds Quiz: 
  • Each contestant would be asked questions on Mutual Funds. Every correct answer would give marks and there would be no negative marking.
• Finance Quiz: 
  • This would be the rapid fire round consisting of questions on general finance & money topics that would be open to all participants.
• At the conclusion of the city round, combined scores will be arrived at on the basis of the scores achieved by the contestants in the qualifying trading round, portfolio round, the case study round, and the two quiz rounds.
• The winner will be crowned the ‘Smart Investor’ of the city where the event is being held and will represent that city in the semi-final & final rounds.
